Barentu, 1 November 2013- At an activity assessment meeting they conducted the inhabitants of Engulit administrative area, Golij sub-zone, said that the environmental sanitation programs being conducted have significant contribution in reducing the prevalence of communicable diseases.
In a speech he delivered at the meeting, Mr. Omar Mohammed, Work Manager of Gash-Barka region, explained that it is only a year since the Engulit administrative area was established, and that the campaign the inhabitants are conducting to ensure clean environment is indeed commendable, and that others should emulate such example.
Dr. Leul Banteyrga, head of Health Ministry in the region, indicated on his part that clean environment has significant contribution in controlling communicable diseases that could be witnessed due to lack of sanitation. He also called for sustainability of the program.
Engulit administrative area lies 10 kilometers east of Golij town and has 3 thousand inhabitants.
