A construction project of cold store for fruits and vegetables in Alebu, Haikota sub-zone, has been inaugurated.

Alebu, 06 November 2013 – A construction project of cold store for fruits and vegetables in Alebu, Haikota sub-zone, has been inaugurated.

Mr. Kibreab Abraham, head of the public technique service’s branch in the Western region, explained that the availability of such store is of paramount importance in connection with the ongoing agricultural activities of larger scope in the area. He further disclosed that the implementation process is expected to be finalized shortly by Musa-Ali Construction Company and FECO, a Chinese counterpart.

Accordingly, the store is wide enough to accommodate horticultural products from agricultural projects in the area and private farms, thus entailing a significant, timely and strategic importance as regards fostering agro-industrial activities.

Speaking at the ceremony of laying cornerstone for the project, Mr. Mohammed Hamd, Administrator of Gash-Barka region, said that the launching of a project of this type is good news for the inhabitants in general and pertinent investors in particular. He also expressed the Administration’s readiness to collaborate in the course of its implementation.

Mr. Haile Mesfin, head of Musa-Ali Construction Company, and Mr. Zi Wen, Managing Director of FECO, asserted to work in harmony for the timely finalization of the construction process.

The ceremony witnessed cultural performances by members of the Chinese construction company, according to reports.
