Asmara, 10 November 2013- Vegetable farmers in Dirfo administrative area expressed resolve to boost vegetables and fruits supply to the Asmara and other markets.
Mr. Osman Seid and Mr. Mehari Misgina explained that they have been producing vegetables and fruits in abundance and playing due role in stabilizing market, and called for the solution of water shortage so that they would be able to increase production.
Likewise, Mr. Idris Omar and Mr. Kibrom Tesfagergis indicated that the water contents from the holes that have been the only source of water for their farms are diminishing, and called for the construction of the promised dam.
Mr. Omar Ibrahim, Administrator of Durfo administrative area, who said that the inhabitants of the area lead their lives through farming and pastoralism, and that due to this year’s shortage of rainfall their produce have tremendously decreased. He further called for the construction of the dam.
Reports indicate that there are 350 vegetable farmers in Dirfo administrative area.
