The Health Ministry’s branch in the Northern Red Sea region indicated that collaboration of government bodies and communities is a prerequisite as regards the realization of the cherished health goals involving community health volunteers.

Assab, 13 November 2013 – The Health Ministry’s branch in the Northern Red Sea region indicated that collaboration of government bodies and communities is a prerequisite as regards the realization of the cherished health goals involving community health volunteers. It made the remark at a meeting in which heads of government bodies and PFDJ branches took part.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Fiseha Zerai from the Ministry pointed out that it has been exerting efforts with a view to promoting public health on the basis of giving impetus to integrated community-based health activities, and noted the importance of adherence to integrated endeavors to this end. He further stated that community health volunteers have been playing an irreplaceable role as regards implementing outreach medical services and community sensitization activities.

Mr. Tesfatsion Girmai, head of administration and finance in the regional Administration, expressed the Administration’s readiness to work in partnership in implementation of health programs.

Representing the Ministry’s regional branch head, Mr. Mohammed Nagus explained that the ongoing program involving community health volunteers constitute a continuation of the government endeavors focusing on improvement of societal wellbeing. He also called for consistent popular participation as the program gets effective shortly in 12 villages in the region.
