Sanitation campaign conducts in Central region

On the occasion of sanitation day being conducted every year from 1 to 24 November, sanitation campaign in which members of the People’s Army and students participated has been conducted on 17 November in the Asmara sub-zones.

Asmara, 17 November 2013- On the occasion of sanitation day being conducted every year from 1 to 24 November, sanitation campaign in which members of the People’s Army and students participated has been conducted on 17 November in the Asmara sub-zones.

Mr. Berhane Negash, Head of Administration and Finance in the region, indicated that the sanitation campaign is being conducted in accordance to the resolution passed before two years to conduct sanitation campaign every year on 20 November, and that the inhabitants with the culture of sanitation they have developed are observing the resolution and reinforce participation.

He further explained that the 13 sub-zones are split into two and that 8 sub-zone have conducted the campaign today, 17 November, and the remaining 5 sub-zones are scheduled to conduct on 24 November. He also expressed his belief that the campaign would be successful for Companies like Asbeco, Bidho and Debwin are participating by providing machinery assistance.

Among the participants, Youth Yosief Habtetsion and Ms. Halima Hassen, inhabitants of Geza-Banda sub-zone, stated that sanitation beyond giving satisfaction for the eyes has significant role in ensuring the health of the society, and called for its sustainability.

Teacher Tirhas Habtom and Student Merhawi Yemane, on their part indicated that the awareness raising campaign conducted by the Health Ministry and its stakeholders has helped people in increasing their knowledge with regards the importance of sanitation, and that the participation of the people is the result of that.
