The Education Ministry’s branch in the Central region on Saturday conducted assessment meeting regarding General Examination, and said that further endeavors should be exerted towards raising student competency at Elementary level.
Asmara, 18 November 2013 – The Education Ministry’s branch in the Central region on Saturday conducted assessment meeting regarding General Examination, and said that further endeavors should be exerted towards raising student competency at Elementary level.
In a report he presented at the meeting, Mr. Mesfin Woldesilasie, head of basic education in the branch office, indicated that student performance in the Examination has been witnessing fluctuations over the past couple of years with a slight decline in the case of the previous one, and thus entailing the putting forth of due efforts in this connection. He went on to disclose that females demonstrated better performance in the previous Examination.
Mr. Kifle Mekonen, head of General Examination in the Ministry, gave detailed briefings pertaining to last year’s nationwide result vis-à-vis the previous ones, and called on the regional offices and teachers to step up endeavors towards better result in the future.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Halima Mohammed, head of the branch office, urged sub-zonal branches to effectively utilize resources with a view to tackling respective challenges, besides highlighting the mandate for conducting discussion on the results of the assessment at school level.
In closing remarks, Mr. Mussa Hussein Naib, head of General Education in the Ministry, equally stressed the obligation for putting up more efforts aiming at still more gratifying outcome to this end.
