Central region inhabitants called upon to extend a helping hand towards anti-polio immunization

Asmara, 19 November 2013 – The Health Ministry’s branch in the Central region has called on the inhabitants to extend a helping hand towards the realization of the goal in connection with the anti-polio immunization campaign due to get underway from the 20th to the 24th of this month.

In this connection, Mr. Gebru Huruy told Erina that the undertaking is aimed at raising child immunization level to 95% through outreach based on health stations, and urged parents to play due role in this regard. He further disclosed that a total of 115 teams would render stationed and mobile vaccination services to children aged below 5 years, while the second phase of the campaign would be conducted from December 27 to 31.

Meanwhile, the Ministry’s branch in the Southern region called on the inhabitants to step up collaboration in a similar double-phase campaign due to be launched on the 20th of November and 25 December.

Ms. Meaza Keleta from the branch office pointed out that a total of 400 stations would render service in the course of the campaign.

Mr. Abraham Yemane, head of the regional branch office, on his part stated that success of the health venture relies on community collaboration, especially parental role, and called on health professionals in all sub-zones to do their level best during the campaign.
