Efforts towards raising production capacity of prisoners witnessing gratifying outcome: Report

Prisoners in the Prison and Rehabilitation Centers in Hazhaz, Tsetserat and Sembel, Asmara, said that efforts being exerted with a view to raising their production capacity are witnessing gratifying outcome.

Asmara, 22 November 2013 – Prisoners in the Prison and Rehabilitation Centers in Hazhaz, Tsetserat and Sembel, Asmara, said that efforts being exerted with a view to raising their production capacity are witnessing gratifying outcome.

Among the prisoners, Mr. Kesete Andebirhan, Mr. Kidane Medin, Mohammed-Nur Ferej, Rutha Yordanos and Zebib Yacob expressed satisfaction with academic services and training courses being conducted in the centers. They further indicated that such opportunities constitute a stepping stone to a bright future.

Capt. Yemane Gebremedhin, nurse, voiced conviction that such programs have remarkable impact as regards rehabilitation of prisoners, besides their input in raising the competency of staff members.

Maj. Semere Tekle, Commander of the Prison and Rehabilitation Center in Tsetserat, disclosed that the training courses organized so far pertain to tailoring, ceramics, computer basics and others, and lauded the collaboration of the Ministry of Education in developing the library within.
