Festival has significant contribution in preserving our culture and identity: Eritrean nationals residing in Qatar
On the occasion of the closing ceremony of the 5th annual festival that was conducted from 21 to 22 November, Eritrean nationals residing in Qatar said that festival has significant contribution in preserving national culture and identity, as well as transferring national values.
Asmara, 27 November 2013- On the occasion of the closing ceremony of the 5th annual festival that was conducted from 21 to 22 November, Eritrean nationals residing in Qatar said that festival has significant contribution in preserving national culture and identity, as well as transferring national values.
They stated that festival creates the coming together of national and strengthens unity, creates forum in which they could understand current issues and development endeavors of the Homeland and transfer national values to their children. The nationals further stated that they eagerly look forward to the event every year.
The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Ibrahim Fekhru, Director of Protocol at the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Ambassadors and diplomats, different media outlets and friends of Eritrea, as well as a number of Eritrean citizens.
Mr. Abdul-Salam Mohammed-Seid, Chairman of the Eritrean Community in Qatar and coordinator of the festival, stressed the importance of the festival in reinforcing national unity and transferring national culture and values. He also praised all those who worked to realize the festival.
Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Eritrean Ambassador to Qatar, indicated that the festival has significant contribution in reflecting the true profile of Eritrea, and appreciated the government and people of Qatar for its cooperation with the Eritrean community.
A cultural troupe from Eritrea added color to the event, reports added.
