Soil and water conservation activity underway in Gala-Nefhi sub-zone

In continuation of an extensive soil and water conservation campaign that has been carried out across the nation, the inhabitants of 10 villages of Gala-Nefhi sub-zone, central region, have been engaged in the construction of terraces and blockages so as to prevent water catchment areas from being eroded.

 

Asmara 30 November 2013- In continuation of an extensive soil and water conservation campaign that has been carried out across the nation, the inhabitants of 10 villages of Gala-Nefhi sub-zone, central region, have been engaged in the construction of terraces and blockages so as to prevent water catchment areas from being eroded.

Indicating that they have been actively engaged in soil and water conservation tasks, the habitants of Himberti, Barda’e, Kutmowli’e, Adomneger, Lagien, Adi-Gombolo, Adike, Adi-Hamushte, Selae-da’ro, and Adomzemati expressed conviction that they would work hard until they successfully accomplish the set out plan.

Mr. Isaias Zeweldi, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Gala-Nefhi sub-zone, said that people’s involvement in the implementation of all mapped out development programs has been very instrumental. He also commended the different popular teams of work which have been collaborating with agriculture experts in remedying water catchment areas.
