Ministry and local Administrations engage in joint venture to curb instances of desert locust swarm in Northern Red Sea region

Reports indicated that the Ministry of Agriculture and local Administrations are engaged in a joint venture with a view to curbing instances of desert locust swarm in the sub-zones of Afabet and She’ib, Northern Red Sea region.

Massawa, 10 December 2013 – Reports indicated that the Ministry of Agriculture and local Administrations are engaged in a joint venture with a view to curbing instances of desert locust swarm in the sub-zones of Afabet and She’ib, Northern Red Sea region.

Among farmers, Mr. Haj Hamd, Mr. Ibrahim Osman, Mr. Adem Bidar and Mr. Ismail Adem expressed conviction that the ongoing efforts would shortly become fruitful enough to put an end to the swarm.

Mr. Hagos Gebretinsae, head of the Ministry’s branch in Afabet sub-zone, disclosed that the campaign has involved a total of 500 manpower, an aircraft, vehicles and other facilities.
