Assab, 11 December 2013 – Reports indicated that crop plantations in Mabra Administrative area, Central Denkalia sub-zone, are in good condition.
Mr. Simret Asefaw, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, disclosed that a total of 210 hectares have been put under cultivation by the community, and commended the farmers’ inclination to professional consultation. He further called on them to sustain hard work until crop harvest, and said that there exists ample supply of pesticides, while advising the community members to report promptly in case of instance of pest swarm.
Mr. Simret expressed appreciation for the community’s move in agricultural output in contrast with the area’s arid nature, and asserted the branch office’s readiness to enhance collaboration with the farmers.
Among the farmers, Mr. Mohammed-Ali Hafil, Mr. Ali Gim’or and Mr. Abdalla Nuha pointed out that there used to prevail an attitude that crop production is impossible in the area until the Ministry’s promotional intervention and support to realize such a reality. They also voiced readiness to put up stepped-up efforts for the realization of the cherished goal.
