Residents of Abashaul, Gejeret, Godaif districts to sustain community-based environmental initiatives

The residents of Abashaul, Gejeret and Godaif districts of Asmara said that they would sustain community-based environmental initiatives in a much more organized manner in the year 2014.

 

Asmara, 18 December 2013 – The residents of Abashaul, Gejeret and Godaif districts of Asmara said that they would sustain community-based environmental initiatives in a much more organized manner in the year 2014. They made the pledge at respective meetings, during which it was stated that gratifying accomplishments have been registered in collaboration with the members of the People’s Army as regards afforestation and environmental hygiene, thus giving rise to betterment of community and environmental health.

Meanwhile, commanders of the police stations called on the community members to step up collaboration with officers with a view to enhancing crime prevention capacity, besides striving to nurture cultural values among the young generation.

Mr. Eyob Fissehatsion from Bidho Association on his part pointed out that the trend of HIV infection in the country has shown marked decline thanks to the integrated works undertaken thereof, and urged the community members in general and youths in particular to adhere to safe sex, in addition to caring for nationals living with HIV/AIDS.

The participants of the meetings in which various community issues were discussed expressed satisfaction with the holding of the meetings.
