Administration of Mendefera sub-zone registers remarkable accomplishments in 2013

The Administration of Mendefera sub-zone disclosed that it has registered remarkable accomplishments in the year 2013 in collaboration with line ministries, communities and members of the People’s Army.

Mendefera, 20 December 2013 – The Administration of Mendefera sub-zone disclosed that it has registered remarkable accomplishments in the year 2013 in collaboration with line ministries, communities and members of the People’s Army. It made the remark at a meeting with community representatives, government bodies and People’s Army units, during which it was stated that such accomplishments predominantly focus on improvement of community livelihood.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tesfai Tsegai, Head of administration and finance in the sub-zone, pointed out that the community renovated a 15-Km. dirt road through mobilizing labor and financial resources, besides planting tree seedlings and constructing terraces measuring 38 km. Moreover, 2 new water wells have been dug with a view to meeting the growing demand for potable water, while a number of renovation activities were undertaken targeting a crop store, river banks and trash facilities.

Mr. Abraham Hagos, Administrator of Mendefera sub-zone, noted the paramount role of communities and parents as regards nurturing virtuous youths who keep intact cultural values. He also called for widespread introduction of soak-pit latrines and sustainability of communal initiatives pertaining to backing families of martyrs and development undertakings. Expanding accessibility of internet in the locality would be one of the plans for 2014, the sub-zonal Administrator added.
