The Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region pointed out that it would further efforts in a bid to promoting effectiveness of health services.
Keren, 20 December 2013 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region pointed out that it would further efforts in a bid to promoting effectiveness of health services. It made the remark at an assessment meeting, during which it was stated that gratifying accomplishments have been registered as regards raising the number of mothers attending maternity services thanks to the efforts exerted to raise community awareness as regards health issues.
Accordingly, a total of 15 health institutions have witnessed expansion of accommodation for maternal services. Moreover, child immunization activities against measles, polio and tetanus have witnessed full control, while instances of various communicable and non-communicable diseases showed significant decline, and more achievements have been made in connection with promotion of environmental hygiene.
The participants of the meeting assessed that the health committees set up at regional, sub-zonal and Area levels are rendering commendable service, besides the fact that distribution of mosquito nets gave rise to remarkable drop in instances of malaria morbidity.
Reports indicated that the health center in Adi-Tekelezan has been upgraded to a Community Hospital, and the putting in place of a similar hospital in Geleb is underway. Pediatric centesr would also be set up in Sel’a, Tahira, Melebso, Habero-Tselim and Rora-Mensae.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Amna Nur-Hussein, Minister of Health, called for integrated endeavors on the part of health personnel, stakeholders and government bodies with a view to realizing the cherished goals. She further explained that significant work has been undertaken pertaining to expanding health service outreach and control as well as prevention of various diseases.
