Community activities regarding prevention of communicable diseases described effective in Gash-Barka region
The Health Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region indicated that community activities regarding prevention of communicable diseases has become effective.
Tessenei, 20 December 2013 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region indicated that community activities regarding prevention of communicable diseases has become effective. It made the remark at respective seminars held in the sub-zones of Tessenei and Forto-Sawa, during which the cautionary issues in connection with epidemic instances of such diseases were discussed, and further popular input was noted as a prerequisite for still more gratifying outcome thereof.
Speaking at the meetings, Mr. Sultan Hagos, Head of communications and promotion in the branch office, pointed out that effective implementation of promotional and community sensitization health activities constitutes a pathway towards doing away with the calamities resulting from such diseases. He further advised nationals to remain cautious as regards risks of communicable disease infections arising across border lines.
The Administrator of Tessenei sub-zone, Mr. Tesfalem Bahta, and Mr. Araya Tesfai, Head of administration and finance in the sub-zonal Administration of Forto-Sawa, expressed readiness to enhance role pertaining to promoting community health. They also called for stepped-up popular resort to environmental hygiene and health services.
