Farmers engaged in animal fattening in Mendefera sub-zone have begun working as an Association, and lowering meat price is a priority based task in their goals.

Mendefera, 21 December 2013 – Farmers engaged in animal fattening in Mendefera sub-zone have begun working as an Association, and lowering meat price is a priority based task in their goals.

Speaking at the meeting thereof, Mr. Eyasu Asefaw, Head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, noted the merits of working with synergy, including that of ensuring more opportunities. He also called on the members to strive to meet local meat demand at fair price.

The members expressed satisfaction with their resort to working as an Association, and asserted that they would do their level best towards realizing the cherished goal. They also asked for additional supply of animal feed in connection with the number of their livestock.

Dr. Ogbazgi Kifle, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the Southern region, lauded the initiative taken to facilitate establishment of the Association, and voiced the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the farmers.

In the same vein, Mr. Maekele Tesfamichael, Head of economic development in the locality, asserted the sub-zonal Administration’s commitment towards backing the Association, besides indicated that it would make follow-up on the impact of the Association in the local market.
