National Association of Blood Donors was officially established officially today upon upgrading its status from a Club. The Association members, entirely constituting voluntary donors, reiterated their commitment at the commencing conference.

Asmara, 21 December 2013 – National Association of Blood Donors was officially established officially today upon upgrading its status from a Club. The Association members, entirely constituting voluntary donors, reiterated their commitment at the commencing conference.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Samson Gebresilasie, Chairman of the Association, indicated that blood donation is a token of love and human concern, and called on the citizenry to demonstrate commitment towards such charitable gesture.

Likewise, Mr. Berhane Negash, Head of administration and finance in the Administration of the Central region, explained that the accomplishments registered in this regard are in line with national legacy. He further urged governmental and nongovernmental organizations, as well as school administrations to step up promotional efforts and asserted the Administration’s readiness to collaborate with the Association.

The Secretary on his part outlined the goals and objectives of the Association, while representatives of various stakeholders voiced solidarity messages in the course of the meeting.
Among the volunteers, Ms. Lula Woldai and Mr. Habteab Woldesilasie said that blood donation entails moral fulfillment, and voiced readiness to back up efforts targeting raised popular awareness pertaining to blood donation

The National Blood Donors Club was established in 2006 by few individual volunteers, and it won secured legal recognition as an Association in September this year.
