Community recreational center launched in Gejeret area

A Community recreational center put in place in Gejeret Administrative area, Asmara, at a total expenditure of over 6 million Nakfa was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of Ministers, PFDJ officials, Army commanders and other officials, as well as invited guests.

Asmara, 27 December 2013 – A Community recreational center put in place in Gejeret Administrative area, Asmara, at a total expenditure of over 6 million Nakfa was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of Ministers, PFDJ officials, Army commanders and other officials, as well as invited guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Amete Niguse, Administrator of the area, explained that the facility was put in place with a view to meeting the demand for recreational service in the area and raising the Administration’s income.

The Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, noted the need of reinforcing the activities of such centers within the city vis-à-vis the input they can have in augmenting the income of the respective local administrations.

Mr. Yosef Tewolde, urban deco expert, on his part outlined the procedures of the project’s implementation, including those pertinent to designing. Such an achievement is exemplary to the remaining communities, he added.

The recreational center comprises sections for families and the elderly.

Among the community members, Ms. Gidei Abraha and Mr. Abraha Woldu expressed satisfaction with the putting in place of the center.

Institutions and individuals that made active participation in the process of the project’s implementation were awarded certificates of merit during the ceremony.
