Inhabitants of Sisima Administrative area to step up participation in prevention of diseases resulting from lack of hygiene

The inhabitants of Sisima Administrative area, Barentu sub-zone, said that they would step up participation in prevention of diseases resulting from lack of hygiene.

Barentu, 27 December 2013 – The inhabitants of Sisima Administrative area, Barentu sub-zone, said that they would step up participation in prevention of diseases resulting from lack of hygiene.

They made the pledge at a seminar concerning environmental hygiene, during which Mr. Sultan Beyene, Head of the health center in Barentu, explained the vitality of promoting such practice among communities, including resort to soak-pit latrines.

Also speaking at the meeting, Dr. Leul Banteyirga, Head of the Health Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region, equally emphasized the irreplaceable role of communities pertaining to promotion of environmental hygiene, and lauded the disposition of the inhabitants in adhering to the use of latrines.

In the same vein, Mr. Aurelio Jackomino, Administrator of the sub-zone, called on the inhabitants to extend a helping hand in endeavors towards furthering use of soak-pit latrines.
