The National Association of Voluntary Blood Donors has opened a branch office in Mendefera city following the fulfillment of its recent promotional campaign to this end.

Mendefera, 28 December 2013 – The National Association of Voluntary Blood Donors has opened a branch office in Mendefera city following the fulfillment of its recent promotional campaign to this end.

Ms. Beletesh Gebreab, coordinator of promotions and dissemination in the Health Ministry’s branch in the Southern region, explained the vitality of the setting up of the branch in connection with ensuring blood supply from within the city.

In the same vein, Dr. Amanuel Mihretab, Medical Director in Mendefera Regional Referral Hospital, noted the paramount role of voluntary blood donors in safeguarding societal wellbeing.

Dr. Yemane Tsegai, Administrator of the hospital, explained on his part that seeking blood supply from the National Blood Bank in Asmara used to entail unwanted loss of time and energy. The launching of the branch office is expected to have remarkable input as regards meeting the blood demand for patients.

Among the volunteers, Ms. Kedija Nur-Hussein and Filmon Hadish pointed out that blood donation involves moral satisfaction, and asserted that they would extend a helping hand towards strengthening the capacity of the Association’s branch.
