Asmara, 29 December 2013- The Eritrean Pharmaceutical Association conducted on 28 December at Asmara Palace 15th conference under the theme “Pharmaceutical Professionals for the Safety of Patients”.
Mr. Semere Gebregergis, President of the Association, explained that the objective of the association is to raise knowledge of the public on health issues, ensure the safety of patients and effective application of medicines, as well as providing timely information to pharmacies on quality of medicines.
Mr. Kidane Woldeyesus, Pharmaceutical expert, on his part indicated that the objective of the association in partnership with the Health Ministry and other stakeholders is to ensure health of the society, and that they would live up to expectations to reinforce participation aimed at controlling the prevalence of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
He further called on patients to consult professionals before they take medicines for their safety and seek assistance in case of side effects.
Research papers regarding the role of Pharmacists in conducting follow up on retroviral HIV/AIDS tablets, as well as on challenges witnessed on medicines storage were presented by professionals.
