Administration of Central region assesses work programs for 2013

The Administration of the Central region yesterday held a meeting with a view to assessing work programs for 2013. Accordingly, a number of accomplishments have been registered in connection with fulfillment of various development and infrastructural activities, as well as administrative plans.

Asmara, 30 December 2013 – The Administration of the Central region yesterday held a meeting with a view to assessing work programs for 2013. Accordingly, a number of accomplishments have been registered in connection with fulfillment of various development and infrastructural activities, as well as administrative plans.

In the course of the meeting, the efforts exerted towards ensuring supply of cereals, vegetables, meat, fruits, honey, egg and animal feed were scrutinized deeply, while the input of integrated agricultural technology as regards raising agricultural output was emphasized. Accordingly, the dams in Gul’e and Daero-Pawlos have been renovated at a total expenditure of more than 16 million Nakfa, besides the construction of 14 water catchment walls using concrete.

Regarding infrastructure, a number of projects have been implemented and various of facilities renovated, and the compilation of related documents is underway seeking UNESCO’s recognition for Asmara city’s architecture.

The participants of the meeting conducted in-depth discussion on the agenda items and exchanged views focusing on several issues.

In closing remarks, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, Administrator of the region, outlines some of the achievements in 2013 such as the one pertinent to revising Administrative structures, the raising of all-round popular awareness, the nurturing of community campaigns as a norm, and segmentation of Asmara city on the basis of master plan, as well as districts. He also called on all departments of the Administration and line ministries to keep intact their virtues and draw action programs that clearly address the prevailing challenges.
