Central region: Health training organized for 21 women from all sub-zones

A 3-month training course was organized for a total of 21 women from the 4 sub-zones of the Central region focusing on proper care of TB patients and First Aid.

Asmara, 31 December 2013 – A 3-month training course was organized for a total of 21 women from the 4 sub-zones of the Central region focusing on proper care of TB patients and First Aid.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Mr. Mehari Gebregiorgis, Medical Director of the community hospital in Godaif, noted the vitality of the training in promoting community health, and stated that the trainees are due to play significant role as regards following up potential TB patients as well as those under dots medication.

Ms. Natsinet Gebreyohanes, in charge of TB follow-up in the region, disclosed that the training is a continuation of the one conducted in 2008 with a view to furthering community-involving patient care. The approach is so effective that 175 women are engaged in such task across the region, she added.

Mr. Yonas Gaim, trainer, stated that the training was conducted through internal capacity of the Community Hospital, and called on sub-zonal Administrators as well as the NUEYS to sustain collaboration in this regard.

The trainees expressed readiness to serve their community members with dedication.
