The inhabitants of Harestai village have said that community-led environmental hygiene activities have facilitated the task of eradicating various communicable diseases in the locality.
Hagaz, 01 January 2014 – The inhabitants of Harestai village have said that community-led environmental hygiene activities have facilitated the task of eradicating various communicable diseases in the locality.
Among the community members, Yasin Ali-Sheikh, Mr. Hussein Hibties and Mr. Musa Idris lauded the Ministry of Health’s commitment as regards initiatives in popular environmental hygiene among communities, and expressed readiness to sustain participation to this end.
Ms. Elsa Hidrom, Head of the health station in Gilass, said that instances of communicable diseases in the area have generally witnessed visible decline, thus attesting to the effectiveness of the community undertakings carried out thereof.
Mr. Berhane Gebrekidan, Head of environmental health in the Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region, on his part noted the vitality of resorting to soak-pit latrines pertaining to control of such diseases, and called on the remaining villages to emulate the exemplary achievement Harestai inhabitants.
The Administration of Hagaz sub-zone, Ms. Amna Haj, advised the inhabitants of the village to keep intact such virtue and thus continue proper utilization of latrines. She further expressed the Administration’s readiness to collaborate with them.
Harestai village is inhibited by over 350 people.
