Mendefera, 07 December 2014 – A seminar as regards patronization of street children was conducted in Mendefera, Southern region. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Haile Gebremichael, in charge of the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in the region, pointed out that endeavors have been made in a bid to alleviating the instances of such state of destitution, and that the setting up of a committee in the city responsible for child rights attests to this. He further explained that there is a plan to set up such committees in the remaining urban centers of the region, and called on communities to extend a helping hand to promotional activities in this connection.
The participants of the meeting put forth views regarding several issues.
In closing remarks, Mr. Franko Kubaba, Head of social service in the region, called for enhanced community input pertaining to rehabilitation of street children.
