The Commander of the National Police Force, Col. Mehari Tsegai, has called for enhanced media role in a bid to raising popular awareness regarding law.

Asmara, 09 January 2014 – The Commander of the National Police Force, Col. Mehari Tsegai, has called for enhanced media role in a bid to raising popular awareness regarding law. He made the call today at a seminar with members of the Ministry of Information, during which he called on the media personnel to step up input in endeavors towards lowering instances of traffic accidents.

He further pointed out that the Police has been working on priority basis to promote community participation in crime prevention.

In closing remarks, Colonel Mehari said that more attention would be given to media relations taking into account its impact in safeguarding public interest in connection with security and other issues, among others.

The seminar participants exchanged views targeting a number of issues.
