Emni-Haili sub-zone – Participation of communities in development programs described remarkable

The Administration of Emni-Haili sub-zone indicated that the participation of communities in the implementation of development programs was remarkable in the year 2013.

Dirko, 10 January 2014 – The Administration of Emni-Haili sub-zone indicated that the participation of communities in the implementation of development programs was remarkable in the year 2013. It made the remark at an assessment meeting, during which detailed reports were presented highlighting the accomplishments registered as regards soil and water conservation, besides the various popular initiatives taken to upgrade the scope infrastructural capacities of schools.

Mr. Berhane Mengesha, Administrator of the sub-zone, pointed out that preparations are being made to give impetus to drip irrigation farming in the environs of Dirko Dam, in addition to launching new activities of this type around Ziban-Seb’o and Harnet Dams.

Accordingly, future undertakings of the Administration would focus on the putting in place and renovation of potable water supply facilities, construction of soak-pit latrines, soil and water conservation, doing away with harmful customary practices and furthering community undertakings, among others.

The participants of the meeting put forth views as regards a number of issues.
