Central region: Illiteracy Eradication Program gains momentum by 90% in line with Millennium Development Goal
The Education Ministry’s branch in the Central region indicated that implementation of Illiteracy Eradication Program attained 90% accomplishment in line with the Millennium Development Goal.
Asmara, 11 January 2014 – The Education Ministry’s branch in the Central region indicated that implementation of Illiteracy Eradication Program attained 90% accomplishment in line with the Millennium Development Goal. It made the remark last Thursday at an assessment meeting during which the outcome of the program over the past 13 years was scrutinized thoroughly.
It was also pointed out that the sub-zonal branches have registered gratifying achievements pursuing the Adult Education Program, while the merits and demerits thereof were addressed explicitly, and the putting up of integrated efforts in the future was described a prerequisite.
Moreover, the participants of the meeting noted the need to sustain promotional and other activities in this regard in a bid to still register more satisfying impact.
In closing remarks, Ms. Halima Mohammed, head of the branch office, and Mr. Berhane Negash, Head of administration and finance in the Administration of the Central region, expressed appreciation for the role Sub-zonal and Area administrations played in the implementation of the program. They also called for stepped-up input on the part of stakeholders with a view to achieving the cherished outcome vis-à-vis the Millennium Development Goal.
