Students in Gash Barka region expressed that the seminars being conducted by Police aimed at raising popular awareness regarding law have significant contribution in enhancing public order.
Barentu, 12 January 2014- Students in Gash Barka region expressed that the seminars being conducted by Police aimed at raising popular awareness regarding law have significant contribution in enhancing public order.
At a meeting Police Officers conducted with students at the sub-zones of Akordet, Laelai Gash and Haikota, Major Haile Beraki, Head of Crime Prevention in Gash Barka region, stressed that traffic accidents and crimes could not be prevented by the police alone, and that the public in general and youth in particular should increase their awareness on law and reinforce their contribution.
He further indicated that lack of knowledge on law would not save from accountability, and that students and youth should respect the good values of the society and abide by the schools golden rules.
Major Habte Gebru, Head of Police Traffic in the region, on his part expressed that huge human and material loses are being observed in the region due to traffic accidents, and that on top of the efforts being conducted by the police the desired result could not be achieved without the participation of the public in general and that of students in particular.
The participants expressed appreciation for the briefings they received, and that they would work hand in hand with the Police in reducing traffic accidents and crimes.
