Inhabitants of Mensura sub-zone engage in effective popular undertakings in collaboration with members of the People’s Army

The inhabitants of Mensura sub-zone said that they are engaged in effective popular undertakings in collaboration with members of the People’s Army with a view to renovating the dirt road linking Mensura with Hagaz and restoring erosion-hit areas.

Mensura, 14 January 2014 – The inhabitants of Mensura sub-zone said that they are engaged in effective popular undertakings in collaboration with members of the People’s Army with a view to renovating the dirt road linking Mensura with Hagaz and restoring erosion-hit areas.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Tekleab Araya and Ms. Halima Ibrahim pointed out that the communal venture constitutes a continuation of previous popular soil and water conservation activities.
Mr. Abdalla Mohammed-Ibrahim, Managing Director of the Administration of Mansura semi-urban center, explained that the community is in a position to witness the outcome of its previous soil and water conservation activities, and that the current undertaking would have significant impact vis-à-vis enrichment of soil fertility.

Likewise, Mr. Woldeyesus Gebrai, Head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, said that terraces and water catchment walls built by the inhabitants within farming areas have given rise to betterment in connection with environmental stability. He also called for addtional community initiatives in this regard.

Mr. Sheikhedin Saleh, Administrator of the sub-zone, stated that such popular activities are being conducted in 10 Administrative areas, and that active community participation is being witnessed thereof. The task is in tune with the plan of the Administration, he added.
