The Administration of the health center in Haikota sub-zone indicated that more seminars would be conducted in a bid to raising community awareness regarding communicable diseases.

Haikota, 14 January 2014 – The Administration of the health center in Haikota sub-zone indicated that more seminars would be conducted in a bid to raising community awareness regarding communicable diseases.

Speaking at a seminar with the inhabitants of Hashenkit village, Mr. Gebru Zere, Head of the health center, and Mr. Hadish Fitwi, Associate Nurse, noted the merits of prevention over cure, and asserted that further community sensitization activities would be undertaken to this end.

Likewise, Mr. Sultan Hagos, Head of information and promotions in the Health Ministry’s branch in Gash-barka region, pointed out that stepped-up efforts are being exerted towards inspiring communal awareness pertaining to diseases resulting from lack of hygiene and STDs. He further called on the community members to translate into practice the knowledge they acquire form such seminars.

The seminar participants expressed readiness to extend a helping hand towards the realization of the cherished goal.
