The inhabitants of Ginda sub-zone indicated that sensitization activities have borne significant impact as regards raising community awareness pertaining to health issues, especially prevention of communicable diseases.

Ginda, 22 January 2014 – The inhabitants of Ginda sub-zone indicated that sensitization activities have borne significant impact as regards raising community awareness pertaining to health issues, especially prevention of communicable diseases.

Among the inhabitants, Ms. Halima Abdalla and Ms. Yordanos Tewolde expressed satisfaction with maternity and VCT services, and pointed out that such facilities have given rise to betterment of mother and child health. Likewise, Mr. Girmai stated that the Regional Referral Hospital in Ginda town is rendering commendable service, and that community sensitization ventures have given rise to the nurturing of positive behavioral change in connection with several health issues.

Ms. Eden Niguse, Associate Nurse, said that the number of people attending VCT service is growing, thus attesting to the enhanced community awareness regarding HIV/AIDS and STDS. Among the inhabitants of the locality living with HIV/AIDS have adhered to use of ARV since March 2013.

Dr. Dawit Estifanos, Medical Director of the Referral Hospital, disclosed that increased follow-up activities have been conducted at all health institutions in the region with a view to preventing potentials of communicable disease outbreak.
