Foro, 22 January 2014 – Students in Zula Administrative area, Foro sub-zone, conducted festival with a view to exchanging experience and depict the knowledge they have acquired.
Reports indicated that the event witnessed the staging of an exhibition portraying the historical site of Adulis and lifestyle of the Afar as well as Tigre ethnic groups, in addition to sports activities and general knowledge contest.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ibrahim Omar, school director, pointed out that the organizing of such event has significant impact as regards fostering student enthusiasm and awareness raising. He also lauded the active collaboration of the local Administration, parents and teachers in the process.
Likewise, Mr. Dawit Embaye, Administrator of Foro sub-zone, and Mr. Reshid Osman, Head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the Northern Red Sea region, expressed appreciation for the active student participation witnessed on the event, especially on the part of females. They further advised parents to enhance follow-up on the academic activities of their children.
Among parents, Mr. Omar Alid, Mr. Mohammed-Idris Ismail and Ms. Amina Jabera said that it is gratifying to observe that cultural activities and display of relics were included among the activities of the event, and called for reinforcement of such initiatives in the future. More promotional activities need to be conducted in a bid to raising the level of female school registration, they added.
