Seminar conducted as regards literary critics in Tigrinya language

A seminar was conducted as regards literary critics in Tigrinya language over the past 2 days through joint collaboration between the College of Arts and Social Sciences as well as PFDJ Cultural Affairs.

Asmara, 24 January 2014 – A seminar was conducted as regards literary critics in Tigrinya language over the past 2 days through joint collaboration between the College of Arts and Social Sciences as well as PFDJ Cultural Affairs.

Present at the seminar conducted in the Assembly Hall of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers’ were Mr. Semere Rusom, Minister of Education, and Ms. Askalu Menkerios, Minister of Tourism, as well as Mr. Zemihret Yohanes, Head of Research and Documentation at the PFDJ, and a number of writers.

In opening remarks, Dr. Ogbagebriel Beraki, Dean of the College, said that the seminar is aimed at providing the groundwork for exchange of experience between veteran and uninitiated writers. He further pointed out that the seminar is the first of its kind, and that it would make significant impact as regards inspiring literary works and depicting cultural values at national level.

Professor Tej Dhar, Writer and Literature Expert, said on his part that he conducted a one-year training for a number of youth writers from governmental organizations in the year 2013, with a view to deepening their undertaking regarding various literary works. The training dealt with rules, reading presentation skills and preparation of research works, among others.

Survey works on various publications and other written artistic works were presented in the course of the seminar, on the basis of which the participants conducted in-depth discussion.
