The Administration of Mai-Mine sub-zone has conducted an assessment meeting of work accomplishments in 2013, and indicated that gratifying achievement has been registered pertaining to development endeavors.

Mai-Mine, 25 January 2014 – The Administration of Mai-Mine sub-zone has conducted an assessment meeting of work accomplishments in 2013, and indicated that gratifying achievement has been registered pertaining to development endeavors.

The activities effectively undertaken by the Administration include the launching of successful pervasive communal ventures in collaboration with members of the People’s Army focusing on the renovation and construction of dirt roads, afforestation, soil and water conservation and preparation of farmlands, among others. Accordingly, 301-Km. dirt road has been renovated, while more than 134,000 tree seedlings have been planted.

Mr. Firewengel Teklehaimanot, Administrator of the sub-zone, explained that the community initiative also included school fences through popular participation, and that a total of 6 villages have fully become beneficiaries of soak-pit latrines.

Mr. Kidane Firui, Head of finance and administration in the Administration, commended the active participation of the inhabitants in development endeavors. The fact that the Administration managed to win award in last year’s National Festival in Dekemhare attests to this, he added.

Moreover, reports indicated that over 186,000 livestock in the locality have been vaccinated, as promotional activities were conducted in a bid to doing away with instances of childhood marriage and their negative impact. Both undertakings witnessed active communal participation.
