The construction of a micro-dam that could impound 1.2 million liters of water is underway in Birkito area, Segeneiti sub-zone. Bidiho Construction Company is implementing the program, which task is also witnessing collaboration of members of the People’s Army.

Segeneiti, 27 January 2014 – The construction of a micro-dam that could impound 1.2 million liters of water is underway in Birkito area, Segeneiti sub-zone. Bidiho Construction Company is implementing the program, which task is also witnessing collaboration of members of the People’s Army.The demand of water supply both for humans and livestock is expected to be met following the implementation of the project.

Mr. Hagos Mosazgi, surveying expert, disclosed that three-fourth of the undertaking has already been finalized, and that it would gain momentum in the future in connection with the deployment of more machineries and labor support extended by members of the People’s Army.

Mr. Ogbai Kelati, dozer operator, indicated on his part that they are engaged in a day-and night-work in a bid to finalizing the implementation of the project before the onset of the rainy season, and commended the active participation of Birkito inhabitants.

One of the members of the People’s Army, Mr. Tesfai Woldekidan stated that a remarkable spirit of enthusiasm is being demonstrated in the undertaking which has provided groundwork for exchange of experience.

Likewise, Ms. Tsige Tsegai lauded the initiative taken by the government with a view to ensuring sustainable water supply in the area. She further indicated that the community anticipates introducing irrigation farming in the future.
