President holds talk with high-level Sudanese government delegation

President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at Denden Hall with a high-level Sudanese government delegation that included Mr. Mekkawi Mohamed Awad, Minister of Oil, and Mr. Mutaz Musa, Minister of Water Resource and Electricity.

Asmara, 28 January 2014 – President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at Denden Hall with a high-level Sudanese government delegation that included Mr. Mekkawi Mohamed Awad, Minister of Oil, and Mr. Mutaz Musa, Minister of Water Resource and Electricity.

In the course of the meeting, the two sides discussed ways and means of fostering cooperation in the domain of energy in line with the agreement reached between Presidents Isaias and Omar Hassan Al-Beshir as regards new areas of partnership during the Sudanese leader’s recent visit here.

President Isaias assured the delegation of the Eritrean government’s readiness to extend the necessary collaboration towards the realization of the Sudanese government’s initiative of working together in the sphere of energy.

Reports indicated that the necessary steps are being taken towards implementing the agreements reached by both sides on the basis of setting up a Technical Committee.

It is to be recalled that President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir paid a working visit to Eritrea from 16 to 18 January.
