The Micro-credit and Saving Program’s branch in Anseba region indicated that endeavors exerted in 2013 towards promoting income-generating activities through making available credit opportunities amounting to 45 million Nakfa have borne commendable impact.

 

Keren, 01 February 2014 – The Micro-credit and Saving Program’s branch in Anseba region indicated that endeavors exerted in 2013 towards promoting income-generating activities through making available credit opportunities amounting to 45 million Nakfa have borne commendable impact.

It made the remark at a meeting in Keren city, during which it was stated that a total of 134 multi-functional village banks are rendering service in 15 sub-zones, and that the beneficiaries comprise farmers, and civil servants, as well as nationals engaged in merchandizing activities. It was also indicated that 90% of the credit fund has been reimbursed.

Mr. Biniam Yohanes, Head of the branch office, pointed out that it has also been engaging in consultation with a view to inspiring prudent utilization of credits, and that the number of customers is on the rise. Accordingly, future undertakings of the Office would target the opening of 10 multi-functional village banks, and raising the budgetary scope of the scheme to 52 million Nakfa.

Mr. Goitom Habtetsion, Acting head of the program, on his part expressed appreciation for the branch office’s annual accomplishment, and called on the beneficiaries to pursue researched opportunities as regards utilizing credits.

Also speaking at the meeting, Mr. Mahteme Askelawi, Director of the Administration of Anseba region, voiced conviction that the program is making significant input in improving the livelihood of communities. He also noted noted the vitality of joint scrutiny involving executives and beneficiaries, besides stating He also asserted that the Administration would collaborate in the Program’s activities.
