Augaro, 03 February 2014 – The Administration of Laelai-Gash sub-zone pointed out that community undertakings have made remakrbale impact in various development domains, and that subsequently would continue on the basis of higher organization. It made the remark at an assessment meeting, during which it was stated that especially the community-led soil and water conservation ventures have given rise to raised agricultural output.

Mr. Gide Estifanos, Administrator of the sub-zone, disclosed that the accomplishments registered also pertain to construction of diversion canals, renovation of dirt roads, environmental hygiene, and said that future activities would seek promoting accessibility of social service facilities.

Likewise, Mr. Atobirhan Yosef, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, called for sustained communal participation as regards preservation of forestry and wildlife vis-à-vis soil and water conservation activities.

Also speaking at the meeting, Mr. Gebremichael Alazar, head of the Education Ministry’s sub-zonal branch, pointed out that a gratifying achievement has been made in furthering educational outreach in remote areas, and called for judicious utilization of educational and other facilities on the part of communities.

The participants of the meeting reiterated readiness to engage in popular undertakings in a more organized manner.
