The Health Ministry’s branch in Tessenei sub-zone indicated that it is exerting stepped-up endeavors towards controlling the sale of expired consumer goods.

Tessenei, 06 February 2014 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Tessenei sub-zone indicated that it is exerting stepped-up endeavors towards controlling the sale of expired consumer goods.

Mr. Siyum Gebremedhin from the branch office noted the vitality of making diligent follow-up in this regard in connection with the fact that Tessenei city constitutes the main doorway to trans-border merchandizing activities. He further stated that punitive measures have been taken against some cases of such illicit practice, and called for sustained community collaboration to this end.

In this connection, Mr. Siyum said that promotional activities have been conducted in a bid to raise service quality of business, especially those related to tourism.

Reports indicate that expired consumer items are disposed through burning by the pertinent division of the branch office.
