National Students’ Sports Week witnessing remarkable spirit of enthusiasm: Report

Teachers and students taking part in the National Sports Week of Students which is being conducted at Asmara Stadium ensuring the participation of juveniles from Junior and High Schools as well as Vocational Schools is witnessing remarkable spirit of enthusiasm.

Asmara, 06 February 2014 – Teachers and students taking part in the National Sports Week of Students which is being conducted at Asmara Stadium ensuring the participation of juveniles from Junior and High Schools as well as Vocational Schools is witnessing remarkable spirit of enthusiasm.

Among students, Sham Hussein and Mikal Rezene noted the vitality of student-based sports activities as regards nurturing competent youths, and expressed conviction that it is also of paramount importance in connection with unraveling the potential among students vis-à-vis encouraging community-based sports activities.

Likewise, Mr. Mekonen Zewde and Mr. Omar Yasin, coaches, explained the significance of organizing sports contests during student vacation time, and stated that the conducting of the event on annual basis could foster sports accomplishments at national level.

Ms. Sara Gebremichael, one of the coordinators of the event, pointed out on her part that it is aimed at laying the groundwork for students to identify their inclination regarding sports, besides promoting students’ fitness and versatility, and that the specialty of the current activities lies on participation of equitable number of females.

The event would continue until the 8th of this month.
