Members of the NUEW branch in Southern Red Sea region have extended livestock to nationals displaced by volcanic eruptions in the sub-zones of Southern and Central Denkalia.
Assab, 07 February 2014 – Members of the NUEW branch in Southern Red Sea region have extended livestock to nationals displaced by volcanic eruptions in the sub-zones of Southern and Central Denkalia. The support provided is worth 4.5 million Nakfa. Accordingly, the displaced nationals comprising 615 families have become beneficiaries of 4 goats each.
Speaking at the handing ceremony, Mr. Humed Ali Mohammed, Head of social service in the region, indicated that the support is supplementary to the input of the government, and called on the beneficiaries to improve their livelihood taking the opportunity as a stepping stone.
Likewise, Ms. Ebado Ahmed, coordinator of the project, pointed out that the initiative is a continuation of the NUEW’s projects of backing needy women, and equally encouraged the beneficiaries to strive to improve their living standard. Moreover, Ms. Fatina Mohammed Yusuf, Head of the Union’s branch in Central Denkalia sub-zone, said that the branch office would enhance follow-up in a bid to ensure sustainability of the project.
The beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the support, and asserted that it would make significant input as regards improving their living.
In the same vein, Mr. Musa Haj Mohammoda, Administrator of Central Denkalia sub-zone, noted the vitality of initiatives of this kind taken by the Union towards improving the livelihood of needy members, besides expressing the Administration’s readiness to collaborate with the beneficiaries.
