Gogne, 12 February 2014 – The residents of Gogne semi-urban center are engaged in popular environmental sanitation venture with a view to prevent instances of communicable diseases.
Among the residents, Ms. Fatina Mahmoud Idris, Ms. Fatina Mahmoud Malik, Mr. Hayelom Kidane and Mr. Mohammed Sherif explained that such communal initiative could be instigated following the carrying out of various promotional and sensitization activities, which made remarkable impact as regards raising popular awareness.
Accordingly, prevalence of communicable diseases have shown significant decline, and that the campaign which is being conducted once in a fortnight is expected to gain momentum in the future.
Mr. Efrem Berhane, environmental sanitation expert in Gogne sub-zone, equally asserted that the undertaking in which higher community organization is being witnessed has given rise to higher achievement as regards prevention of communicable diseases.
Likewise, Mr. Tsegai Tekle, head of economic development in the sub-zone, said that the community-led task would continue in a highly organized manner.
