Call made for integrated efforts to implement development programs

Asmara, 14 February 2014- At a meeting she conducted with the inhabitants of Berik sub-zone, Ms. Leul Asrat, administrator of the sub-zone, called on the inhabitants to make integrated efforts to implement the development programs in the sub-zone.

Mr. Tewolde Ainalem, head of social services in the sub-zone, indicated that in 2013 activities including renovation of the road connecting Adi-Abieto with Adi-Habteselus and Shindibluq, soil and water conservation, as well as new transportation line to Weki Duba and Adi-Shimagile have been conducted, and that 85% of the inhabitants have been beneficiaries of potable water and 95% could read and write.

He further explained that with the introduction of community based health services the awareness of the public on health issues has been grown, and that mother and child mortality rate significantly been reduced.
