NUEW members in Hagaz sub-zone assert readiness to enhance participation in national development programs

Members of the NUEW in Hagaz sub-zone have asserted readiness to enhance participation in national development programs on the basis of higher organization.

 

Hagaz, 15 February 2014 – Members of the NUEW in Hagaz sub-zone have asserted readiness to enhance participation in national development programs on the basis of higher organization.

They made the pledge at the first conference they held last Thursday, during which they pointed out that the initiative they would take would especially focus on backing the nation’s endeavor of ensuring food security.

Ms. Amna Hassen from the Union’s branch in the sub-zone said that that it is the time when Eritrean women should demonstrate equal participation in all domains as in the armed struggle for independence and safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.

Ms. Letekidan Weldegabir, Head of the branch office, indicated that more efforts would be exerted focusing on improvement of women’s livelihood. She also explained that community development can be attained only through ensuring gender equity.

Likewise, Mr. Teklehaimanot Musael, Administrator of Hagaz semi-urban center, called on female youths to demonstrate active partition in all activities, and thus laying the groundwork for the nurturing of cultural values to the new generation.

The participants of the meeting on their part lauded the efforts being made in the locality targeting higher development in connection with women, in addition to calling on the Union’s members to extend a helping hand towards reinforcing programs aimed at promoting of community health.

Ms. Amna Haj, Administrator of the sub-zone, equally called for enhanced women’s participation as regards doing away with harmful customary practices, and expressed the Administration’s readiness to collaborate in activities related to women’s development.

The participants of the conference elected a new Management Committee.
