Delegation headed by President of Turkish Trade Union Confederation conducting working visit in Eritrea

A Turkish delegation headed by the President of the country’s Trade Union Confederation, Mr. Mahmut Arslan,  is conducting a 3-day working visit in Eritrea.

Asmara, 17 February 2014 – A Turkish delegation headed by the President of the country’s Trade Union Confederation, Mr. Mahmut Arslan,  is conducting a 3-day working visit in Eritrea.

In the course of a meeting with the Secretary General of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers, Mr. Tekeste Baire, the delegation pointed out that the visit is aimed at strengthening ties between both Confederations, fostering mutual trade activities and laying the groundwork for exchange of experience, as well as educational activities.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tekeste Baire explained that the visit attests to the existing readiness on the part of both parties as regards enhancing bilateral relations, besides the fact that it could be a good opportunity to portray investment prospects in the Homeland vis-à-vis the Eritrean people’s culture of work.

The Turkish delegation visited Zaer Textile Factory, during which it received briefings pertaining to the overall profile of the business.

Mr. Mahmut Arslan stated that the visit could enable them have clear understanding regarding the investment opportunities in Eritrea, and expressed appreciation for the existing participation of women in all work domains.He further indicated that the delegation has acquired vivid understanding regarding the treatment of workers in the country thus registering commendable outcome.

The Turkish delegation would meet a number of government officials and visit the port city of Massawa in the course of its stay.
