The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in Adi-Keih sub-zone has called for higher parental and community follow-up regarding childcare.
Adi-Keih, 25February2014– The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in Adi-Keih sub-zone has called for higher parental and community follow-up regarding childcare. It made the call at a meeting with religious leaders and community elders, during which Mr. Rezene Woldeamlak, Head of the branch office, disclosed that a training course was organized for orphaned and needy children at a total expenditure of 200,000 Nakfa. He further called for enhanced parental input with a view to encouraging the beneficiaries to pursue skill development.
Accordingly, the branch office has also been extending learning materials for free to such children and such support is expected to continue. Moreover, an initiative would to be taken as regards ensuring opportunities for street children to peruse learning in Boarding schools.
One of the participants of the meeting, Mr. Tewolde Adhanom noted the vital role of parents as regards nurturing ethical codes among children, and called on teachers, school administrations and pertinent bodies raise input to this end.
