Mendefera, 25 February 2014– A call has been made for the empowerment of positive peer pressure in a bid to nurture the cherished behavioral change among youths in Mendefera city.
Speaking at a meeting with students, Ms. Tsige Bariagabir, Head of the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in Mendefera sub-zone, stated that the follow-up on the youth by communities, parents and government bodies has significant impact as regards nurturing virtuous youths, and called for the launching of highly organized programs in this connection.
The students on their part called on the government and communities to step up efforts toward rehabilitating street children, and thus enabling them to avail of educational opportunities, besides urging parents to create favourable atmosphere for a culture of open discussion with their children.
In closing remarks, Mr. Abraham Hagos, Administrator of the sub-zone, advised the students to striving for higher outcome in their academic pursuit, and expressed appreciation for the views exchanged by them in the course of the meeting.
