At a meeting conducted in Keren to assess the health situation of youth a call has been made on youth to avoid harmful addictions that could endanger their health and for stakeholders to reinforce participation in raising the awareness of the youth as regards health issues.
Keren, 27 February 2014- At a meeting conducted in Keren to assess the health situation of youth a call has been made on youth to avoid harmful addictions that could endanger their health and for stakeholders to reinforce participation in raising the awareness of the youth as regards health issues.
Dr. Kesetebrhan Misgina, Head of the Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region, indicated that the Ministry of Education and the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) make strong contribution in organizing and in raising the awareness raising of the youth, and that with sustainable health related awareness raising programs the prevalence of HIV/AIDS and under age marriage have been significantly reduced.
Mr. Tesfa’alem Misgina, Head of agitation and information in the Health Ministry’s branch in the region, indicated that a campaign is being conducted to bring about behavioral change as regards the youth, and called for integrated efforts thereof.
Likewise, Mr. Hagos Adhana, Head of basic education in the region, commending the efforts being exerted by the Health Ministry said that as a result of the awareness raising campaigns being conducted by school clubs, blood donation by students is on the rise, and that represents significant development.
